Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release

Sioux Falls, SD -- The Sioux Falls Skyforce (4-2) earned their fourth straight victory, cruising past the Maine Red Claws (3-4) 111-96 on Saturday at the Sanford Pentagon.

Keith Benson (14 points, eight rebounds) led the way early on for the Skyforce in a back and forth first period of play. Each team led by as many as five points in the quarter, but both sides entered the break tied at 27.

Andre Stringer (12 points) and Omari Johnson (17 points, eight rebounds) led a first half three-point barrage by the Red Claws, making 12 three-pointers and shooting 57 percent from long range in the half. However, the Skyforce kept it close by scoring 32 points in the paint in the first two quarters. Maine led 58-55 at the half.

Sioux Falls broke the game open in the second half, leading by as many as 23 points mid-way through the fourth quarter. After cooling down from three-point range, Maine struggled to find other scoring opportunities against a tough Skyforce defense. The Red Claws made just three of their thirteen three-point attempts in the second half.

Double-doubles by both Miami HEAT assignee Jarnell Stokes (22 points, 10 rebounds) and Greg Whittington (16 points, 13 rebounds) highlighted an all-around dominant second half performance by the Skyforce, who took the lead early in the third quarter and never looked back.

Whittington has now recorded a double-double in four of the team's six contests and Stokes has led the team in scoring in all three games since being assigned to the Skyforce.

Starters Tre Kelley (17 points, six assists), Rodney McGruder (14 points, three steals), and DeAndre Liggins (19 points, six assists, four rebounds, three steals) were also major contributors in the Skyforce win.
