SOUTHAVEN, Miss.--Stingy defense and solid goaltending were the order of the day for the Louisiana IceGators.

Andrew Flemming gave his best performance of the year, stopping 39 shots to lead the IceGators to a 1-0 victory over the Mississippi RiverKings.

When he wasn't protecting the blue line, defenseman Clark Byczynski was generating offense for the IceGators. He scored the game's only goal with 1:13 remaining in the first period off assists from Adam Stuart and Shawn McNeil.

The IceGators and the RiverKings will meet again Wednesday night for a Thanksgiving Eve showdown in the Cajundome. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.

"This is a great road win for us," said IceGators head coach Drew Omicioli. "Today's game is the first where we didn't have any major periods of time where we allowed our opponent to get back in the game or take over the game. The guys battled hard for a full 60 minutes.

"Overall, I am pleased with the effort from all of the guys. Andrew Flemming's stellar performance proved he can battle for the number-one position any night."

The game was a relatively clean game, featuring only six penalties and three power plays. Despite having only one power play and his team being outshot 39-18, Omicioli says his men took full advantage of every situation they encountered.

"We clearly outplayed them for three periods," Omicioli said. "Our quality opportunities were far greater than any of their Grade-A opportunities."
