Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans faced off against the Quad City Mallards on Easter Sunday at the Allen Event Center. The Americans, in search of tying the second round series 1-1, beat the Mallards 2-0 after two goals in the third period.
The first period was uneventful, with both teams heading into the second intermission without a goal. Allen held an 11-8 advantage in shots over Quad City. Throughout the second period, the game remained scoreless, as well, but Allen continued to hold an edge on shot with 14-7.
The Americans finally got on the board 7:43 into the third period, when Bruce Graham lit the lamp to give Allen a 1-0 lead. The goal, his fourth of the post season, was assisted by Tyler Ludwig. Allen secured a 2-0 win with 17 seconds remaining in the third period, when Spencer Asuchak fired a shot into an empty net, assisted by Brian McMillin and Tyler Ludwig. The third period saw Allen trail in shots 8-6.
With the win, the Americans tie the series 1-1 and will head to Molene, Illinois, to take on the Quad City Mallards in game 3 on Wednesday.
