Memphis Redbirds News Release

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Consecutive doubles by Randal Grichuk and Oscar Taveras in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Memphis Redbirds a 5-4 walk-off win over the Oklahoma City RedHawks on Easter Sunday at AutoZone Park.

The Redbirds (9-8) came-from-behind to score the final three runs over the last two innings to snap their three-game losing streak.

First baseman Scott Moore (3-for-4, 3 RBI) and Grichuk (2-for-5) each homered and doubled on the afternoon. Taveras also had two hits, including his game-winning two-bagger to right field.

In a no-decision, Memphis starter Tim Cooney recorded his third quality start in four outings this season. The left-hander struck out three, walked a pair, and scattered five hits that included a two-run home run. Jose Almarante worked 1 1/3 scoreless innings and stranded two inherited runners for his first Triple-A victory.

Grichuk hit a solo home run onto the TruGreen Bluff in the first to give Memphis a 1-0 lead. The homer was the outfielder's third of the season. Memphis added to its total in the fourth as Taveras reached on an infield base hit and came around to score on singles from Stephen Piscotty and Moore.

Oklahoma City scored four unanswered runs for a 4-2 lead, which began with Max Stassi two-run home run in the sixth inning. The long ball was his fourth of the season.

The club tacked on two more in the eighth, as Gregorio Petit doubled and scored on a line drive base hit that deflected off the glove of the diving Jermaine Curtis. Next batter Jonathan Meyer then brought home the other run on an infield fielding error by third baseman Pete Kozma.

Memphis tied the game in the next frame on Moore's two-run blast. With Joey Butler aboard with an inning-opening walk, Moore sent Jose Cisnero's 1-2 offering to the Delta Dental Picnic Pavilion in right field.

Jake Buchanan allowed two runs over four innings in a no-decision. Darin Downs (0-2) was charged with the loss in the ninth.

The Redbirds and RedHawks will continue their series at 7:05 pm CT on Monday evening at AutoZone Park. Memphis right-hander Zach Petrick (NR) will make his Triple-A debut and facethe Oklahoma City duo of right-hander Nick Tropeano and righty Collin McHugh.
