Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Biscuits (11-6) were able to hold off the Mississippi Braves (6-11) 4-3 for their fifth-straight win Sunday afternoon at Riverwalk Stadium.

Richie Shaffer led the way offensively for the Biscuits. The former-first rounder out of Clemson tripled in the second inning then scored on a double from Willie Argo to give the Biscuits their first run. Shaffer then crushed his team-leading fourth home run - a two run shot - in the fourth inning to give the Biscuits a 3-0 lead.

Dylan Floro (1-1) picked up his first win in double-A by going six scoreless-innings and only allowing two hits. Floro struck out two and did not walk a batter while not allowing a runner past first base after the first inning.

The Braves started their comeback with an RBI-single from Emerson Landoni in the seventh inning which snapped a stretch of 33-consecutive innings without a run. Matt Kennelly then doubled-in a run to make it a 4-2 game. Cedric Hunter's solo home run in the eighth made it 4-3 Biscuits.

Santiago Garrido (4) was able to pick up his fourth save of the season by only allowing one hit in the ninth.

Taylor Motter finished with an RBI-double.

The middle-game of the series is Monday night at 7:05. RH Jared Mortensen looks for his third-straight win. RH Jason Hursh will be on the mound for the Braves.
